Our Economic Models Are All Wrong

Max-Neef explains that “Greed is the dominant value today in the world and as long as that persists, we’re done!”  But he doesn’t just mean done economically, he means done as a species.

Rushing to my job in a highrise office building in the San Francisco financial district one morning in 1992, I realized that something was very wrong.  I realized that what all the concrete and steel that susrrounded me represented, I no longer wanted to be a part of.  I no longer wanted to struggle to pay high rent for a small studio apartment.  At the time, I was working two jobs and had little to show for it, except a little savings that I could easily deplete in just one month of day to day living.  With only one full day off to perform all the mundane tasks of personal and household maintenance, I hardly had a life.  I wondered, what was the point my daily routine? I realized that there were a relatively small handful of people who were contolling the world economy that dictated how everyone else in the world lived.  And they were doing so at the expense of a large part of humanity and the environment.  There is more respect for money than any other single component of life.  Finance has become the idol of worship ahead of all else.

I realize that my life is my personal responsibility and am not shifting blame here. I know there's noone coming to save me. Living to maintain even a modest lifestyle is hard work.  But, what does it matter if the world is falling apart around you?  The basic components of life are being slowly eaten away in the name of profit.  After reading the article ‘Dramatically Poisonous’ Economy Heading to "‘Catastrophic’ Collapse, Says Acclaimed Economist," I was reminded why I came to the conclusions that I did on that foggy, fall San Francisco morning.  That was the day I realized that life had little meaning for not only me but also a growing number of people. Life is not just about the pursuit of money.  We must shift our thinking and utlimately our ways of life in order to achieve personal fulfillment.  Most importantly I realized that unless we make this conscious effort then literally, there will be very little to live for. We really have no other choice.  You can read the full article here

Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col was lead investigator in Billy Meier UFO contact case, helped prove still ongoing contacts with human extraterrestrials are real

Playa Del Rey, CA (PRWEB) September 21, 2010
Lt. Col. Wendelle Stevens, USAF (Ret.), the lead investigator in the still ongoing Billy Meier UFO contacts in Switzerland, died on September 7, in Tucson, Arizona. Stevens, who began researching UFOs for the Air Force in 1947, played a major role in bringing the Meier UFO contacts to public attention. Having learned of Meier's contacts and seen some of his early UFO photos in 1977, Stevens organized a team that included private investigators Lee and Brit Elders of Intercept, and photographic expert Jim Diletosso and Tom Welch. Their findings were augmented and attested to by numerous scientific experts when independent author Gary Kinder (Light Years) also investigated the case.
Stevens first received Meier's transcripts of his German language conversations with the Plejaren extraterrestrials, in 1978, and began having them translated into English. By publishing the information in dated, copyrighted books Stevens effectively, and probably unknowingly, established the prophetically accurate nature of much of the scientific information provided to Meier by the extraterrestrials. This included Meier's advance knowledge of Jupiter's rings, Io being the most volcanically active body in the solar system, the actual number of Saturn's moons, the two planets beyond Pluto, the discoveries of water, small life forms and the hostile environment on Mars, etc., all well before "official discovery".
Stevens investigation into the Meier case was, from the beginning, closely monitored by various intelligence agencies, some of whom regularly detained him and his team on their way to and from Meier's residence in Switzerland. But chief among those who followed Stevens and his team's every step was the CIA, whose station chief in London at the time, Mark Nathan, personally interrogated everyone, according to what Stevens publicly told audiences.
According to Michael Horn, Meier's U.S. media representative, "Part of their purpose was to make copies of all photographs and information that the investigators were getting from Meier. Stevens not only faced harassment from the authorities," said Horn, "but enormous opposition from various UFO organizations who were plainly envious of the stunning evidence Wendelle acquired from Meier. They were especially peeved that he chose to bring in top scientific experts to analyze it and not the unqualified UFO enthusiasts."
In addition to being the preeminent UFO investigator of all time, Stevens was well known as a great storyteller, famous for recounting the details of his decades long investigation into Meier's contacts. Horn says that without Stevens' courageous, pioneering work, the still ongoing efforts to discredit and suppress the Meier case would have probably succeeded completely.

UFO Skeptics Throw in the Towel - How Did Meier Beat NASA by 32 Years?

Meier foretold water discovery on Mars in 1976; Larry King show deluged with requests to cover the Billy Meier UFO case.
And of course that he foretold the Iraq wars, AIDS, global warming and terrorism, etc. - all back in 1958 - is more than amazing (http://theyfly.com/lost/meier.prophecies.1958.htm). The fact is that while being exposed to the truth can be quite devastating for some people…it doesn't change the truth.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 4, 2008 -- The subject of UFOs is no longer just fodder for the tabloids, as several recent Larry King TV shows indicate. Though primarily dominated by discussions about sightings of lights in the sky, and perennial dead-end conjecture about Roswell, the recent shows have engaged viewers everywhere.
They also coincide with increased worldwide attention being once again focused on the highly controversial Billy Meier UFO contacts in Switzerland, due to the release of the new film on the case, "The Silent Revolution of Truth" (http://theyfly.com/newsflash94/UFO_Skeptics_Throw_in_the_Towel_files/theyfly_com.htm), and the newest scientific corroboration for Meier's prophetic information.
While NASA's announcement on July 31, regarding proof of the discovery of water on Mars, excited scientists, Meier had already been informed about water on the red planet - on July 8, 1976. (English language translations of this information, available since 1986, were also published by Lt. Col. Wendelle Stevens, USAF Ret., in 1993, in Volume 3 of Message from the Pleiades. The four-book series, now out of print, collector's items, are available as ebooks http://theyfly.com/products/products.htm).
BREAKING NEWS FROM NASA - FURTHER CORROBORATION OF MEIER MARS INFORMATION!
Information received early Monday evening, August 4, 2008, from NASA reports that the Phoenix spacecraft detected the presence of chemicals in the Martian sopil that may make it "detrimental to life" http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5j1hvRUNc9W-3lupLU6TLQtR0gdRAD92BPQ980.
Could this be what Semjase was referring to, in her last sentence to Meier below - from 1976?
Meier- You are right, too. Yet now another question: You had once told me that no life would exist on Mars. If I have understood this right, you meant by this but planetarian human life, didn't you?
Semjase- 114/Certainly.
Meier- Well - then your earlier answer does not exclude (the possibility) that any other life of floric or faunic form can exist there, or even does exist. You then told (me) expressly, that life does not exist there, while logically you had addressed only the human planetary life. What do you think now, Will the Americans discover low forms of life with their sonde sent to Mars?
Semjase- 115/They will meet with surprises in many respects, as in the fact that Mars has much more water than earthly science had assumed until now.
116/ But there are also surprises in the character of the ground and the nature of the microworld.
117/The floric and faunic world can absolutely be found on Mars when the scientific instruments of these sondes are well enough to evaluate and store the concerned results.
Meier- Then "life on Mars" could prove true for our science?
Semjase- 118/It is in the compass of possibility, that the analyses could verify this, when the scientific instruments are good enough, because faunic and floric forms of life are existing on Mars, even though this planet destroys other forms of life by its contrary to life nature.
Skeptics Defeated:
Renewed international interest in Meier's claims of personal contacts with extraterrestrial humans, for over 66 years, also coincides with the total collapse of the skeptical challenges. Chief among those who have long characterized Meier's stunning photographic, film and video evidence as merely "an easily duplicated hoax done with models", has been the international professional skeptics organizations CFI-West and IIG, affiliated with skeptical debunker James Randi.
Shortly after the release of "The Silent Revolution of Truth" the lead case investigator for IIG, Derek Bartholomaus, was forced to retract his own claims (included in the Special Features section of the film) that Meier used model trees and UFOs to help hoax his clear, daytime UFO photos, films and video from the mid-1970s (http://theyfly.com/newsflash91/Top_Skeptic_Fixed.htm). Bartholomaus and CFI-West/IIG were completely unable to provide even one photograph as evidence of any model tree or model UFO to support their premise, despite having had seven years to do so. The skeptics had stubbornly pinned all their hopes on the model theory, as no personal computers, PhotoShop, digital effects, etc. were available to anyone, let alone a Swiss farmer, at the time that Meier presented his evidence.
Bartholomaus and the skeptics took another devastating blow when Uncharted Territory, the Academy Award-winning special effects company (for Independence Day) rebuffed his request for support for his model theories, instead clearly describing one of Meier's UFO films as "hard to achieve, very hard, probably even impossible to fake this kind of shot." (http://theyfly.com/newsflash92/Academy_%20Award_Fx.htm)
Meier's U.S. representative, Michael Horn then took the fight back to Bartholomaus, challenging him to prove his claim that Meier had used models to hoax a highly dramatic film segment (http://www.tjresearch.info/bachtel.htm). Horn, who's researched the case for 30 years, said that there were only two possibilities for use of a model and that he was prepared to unequivocally demolish either argument.
Bartholomaus, who's been the most vocal of the skeptical protagonists for some time, failed to answer the bell for the final round, admitting that he simply wasn't prepared to substantiate his own claims. Then, like a good corner man trying to protect his fighter from further battering, James Randi's official spokesperson, Jeff Wagg, threw in the towel for the organization, surprisingly supporting Horn's position, saying, "If there's not enough evidence to support the model claim, the model claim is suspect."
With any hoaxing by special effects or models having been eliminated - by the skeptics themselves - the skeptical challenge was over.
Lie Detection:
In light of these stunning, unexpected developments, the question of Meier's truthfulness takes on even more importance. And it's also explored, in a unique way, in "The Silent Revolution of Truth". Horn said, "We took the unusual step of bringing in an expert consultant to the U.S. Army Special Forces, a specialist in reading body language - which can mean life or death to a soldier. We filmed him as he watched Meier speak on film, for the first time with the sound off, just in case he could understand Meier's Swiss-German dialect, which he couldn't. We had him evaluate Meier and the retired UN diplomat, who also spoke about seeing the UFOs, and one of the Plejaren extraterrestrials, in India years ago. He gave them both a 'thumbs up'.
"Anyone who's been skeptical of Meier's truthfulness, and the huge implications of all this, should learn more about how science - as well as the U.S. Army - is relying on human 'lie detectors' (http://discovermagazine.com/2008/aug/28-the-science-of-sniffing-out-liars/article_view?b_start:int=1&-C=)." Of course, people should also know that Meier and 15 other witnesses all passed lie detector tests, years ago, when the original investigation was conducted."
The Media:
As the skeptics self-destructed, Horn found himself inundated with requests for the Meier case to be covered on the Larry King show. Referring people to contact the show itself resulted in Horn getting a call from one flustered young producer, complaining about getting "too many" calls asking for him to be on the program. Horn said, "It's probably just youthful inexperience on her part. Being flooded with calls is usually seen as a good barometer of huge audience interest, kind of like American Idol, to use another out of this world comparison. From what we understand, the Meier case is now the most requested UFO-related topic for the Larry King show, where they already show Meier's UFO films and photos as evidence, ironically.
"The problem for the mainstream media, governments, religions and financial systems is that the Meier case takes the conversation about UFOs too far beyond their comfort zone. They love it when people focus on Roswell, where there's not a shred of remaining evidence. Now that the question has been settled, i.e. is the Meier case the biggest hoax or, as it turns out, the most important story in human history, thinking people may come to inescapable conclusions about the dangers of the path that we are on, right here on earth, and hopefully act in time to change to a more positive direction. The Meier material offers very specific suggestions on how to do that, all of which require taking complete self-responsibility for every aspect of our lives.
"While it surprised me at the time when, in May 2006, Meier casually told me about the coming collapse of the U.S. dollar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29wnpEy2DY4 - as well as the possibly dire consequences of a U.S. and/or Israeli attack on Iran - it further convinced me that he knows a lot more about many things than people can imagine. Of course, this is the same man who beat NASA to the punch - more than once (see Jupiter information at: http://theyfly.com/news2005/jan06/jan06.htm#skeptics).
"And of course that he foretold the Iraq wars, AIDS, global warming and terrorism, etc. - all back in 1958 - is more than amazing (http://theyfly.com/lost/meier.prophecies.1958.htm). The fact is that while being exposed to the truth can be quite devastating for some people…it doesn't change the truth."

With the sudden surge of interest in UFOs, are the government and media deliberately suppressing the one case that would blow the cover-up wide open? Michael Horn, the U.S. spokesman for Swiss UFO contactee, Billy Meier, will present supporting evidence for that theory in two upcoming public appearances.
According to Horn, the whole UFO topic has been turned into little more than entertainment with the media comfortably promoting only anecdotal and inconclusive evidence. "The fact is that while there has been some actual extraterrestrial UFO activity in the past, most sightings are either secret military craft or explained by natural causes. The clear exception, the Meier case, has been the one cause of concern for the CIA and other intelligence agencies for over 35 years. The 21 documented assassination attempts on Meier's life show that someone's been taking it very seriously."
Horn thinks that the governmental powers that be are glad to see people chase what he calls "lights in the sky" but want to make sure that Meier's documented, advance knowledge of hundreds of important scientific discoveries, from black holes, dark matter, water on Mars, to the deadly threat of the Apophis asteroid, don't get their attention.
When asked why they would want to cover up such ironclad evidence, Horn said, "They believe that Meier's proof of still ongoing extraterrestrial contact would overturn our religions, even stop wars and reinforce the oneness of, and need for peace between, all peoples on Earth. They also fear that it would destabilize society to admit that advanced, space traveling human beings operate freely without any terrestrial control. But the Plejaren extraterrestrials emphasize that we, the people of Earth, are the biggest enemies to our own future survival...and they're trying to help us to avoid self-destruction."
Horn feels that those who could have made a real difference failed to do so. "There's no shortage of so-called 'UFO experts', authors and others who've jumped on the UFO bandwagon despite not having any real extraterrestrial related evidence. And they avoid the Meier case for one simple reason - they can't make a profit from it. So they don't mention Meier's contacts in their media appearances, preventing people from benefiting from the information. Those who are most vocal about 'ending the UFO cover-up' are, ironically, most actively perpetuating it because, like the media, they see Meier as...bad for business."
Horn - who says he has personal proof the ET contacts are authentic - claims there's another reason why the Meier case is strictly off limits. "The media and the powers that be know that if people realize just how badly they've been lied to about things like the coming worldwide consequences of the BP Gulf disaster, the anger and frustration could really boil over.
"But they've overlooked one important thing. The internet revolution cannot be undone and now each person who comes upon the Meier information can 'publish', text and tweet it freely and wake up countless others. Initially it's a slow process but it will ultimately overwhelm the media suppression and, in time, the truth will prevail."

Finally, Some Mainstream Media UFO Coverage

Aliens have deactivated British and US nuclear missiles, say US military pilots

Aliens have landed, infiltrated British nuclear missile sites and deactivated the weapons, according to US military pilots.

The beings have repeated their efforts in the US and have been active since 1948, the men said, and accused the respective governments of trying to keep the information secret.
The unlikely claims were compiled by six former US airmen and another member of the military who interviewed or researched the evidence of 120 ex-military personnel.
The information they have collected suggests that aliens could have landed on Earth as recently as seven years ago.
The men's aim is to press the two governments to recognise the long-standing extra-terrestrial visits as fact.
They are to be presented on Monday 27 September at a meeting in Washington.
One of the men, Capt Robert Salas, said: "The US Air Force is lying about the national security implications of unidentified aerial objects at nuclear bases and we can prove it."
He said said he witnessed such an event first-hand on March 16, 1967, at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana which housed Minuteman nuclear missiles.
Capt Salas continued: "I was on duty when an object came over and hovered directly over the site.
"The missiles shut down - 10 Minuteman missiles. And the same thing happened at another site a week later. There's a strong interest in our missiles by these objects, wherever they come from. I personally think they're not from planet Earth."
Others claim to have seen similar activity in the UK.
Col Charles Halt said he saw a UFO at the former military base RAF Bentwaters, near Ipswich, 30 years ago, during which he saw beams of light fired into the base then heard on the military radio that aliens had landed inside the nuclear storage area.
He said: "I believe that the security services of both the United States and the United Kingdom have attempted - both then and now - to subvert the significance of what occurred at RAF Bentwaters by the use of well-practised methods of disinformation."
The site was then the base of the US 81st Tactical Fighter Wing.
Capt Bruce Fenstermacher, a former US Air Force officer, also claims he saw a cigar-shaped UFO hovering above a nuclear base in Wyoming in 1976.  Source

What can we be thinking?

Listening to a lecture I was transcribing for Growth Busters, a non-profit working to help solve our population problems, promote sustainability and environmental justice, I came across the following excerpts, spoken by Erich Pica:

What we are doing, at least with the big multi-national corporations in the United States…We’re exporting a lot of our pollution into developing countries in the hopes of giving them jobs, or providing jobs for their country. We are enslaving them to the same agricultural production practices, whether it’s the introduction of genetically modified uh, crops like corn or, soy or, cotton. And, making it…Basically enslaving them to, uh, developed countries…United States…European companies that have patents on those genes and those seeds. Uh, so, we’re exporting a lot of pollution…Extracting out of them, their lively-hood, their natural resources, their future, essentially to provide for ourselves. And, that is what a lot of the models….A lot of the economic models and development models around the world, whether it’s the World Bank, or IMF, International Monetary Fund…The theories of trade and globalization…That’s what it’s all predicated on.  It’s all predicated on the.. Promoting the wealth of the United States and Europe and developed countries. And, as we‘ve seen, over the last fifty years, it hasn‘t done a whole lot to alleviate poverty, or to alleviate hunger, or to alleviate uh, disease in the rest of the world. Next slide, please, (End)

It should be obvious to anyone that what we're doing in the west to the rest of the world is looting and pilfering.  Not only are we looting other countries,  we are also being looted by the corporations ourselves.

The next excerpt identifies exactly how and why:
I think it’s difficult. I think it’s difficult to get the change that we need working within the system. And, not addressing broader system, system change. In March of this year, we had the Citizen United case which basically gave corporations the right to unlimited speech, free speech through money. You know, we have Supreme Court rulings that define corporations as a person. Corporate Personage. And so, we have ninety years of legal history and legal precedent to where corporations get to gain all the rights of being an individual, yet none of the responsibilities or liabilities afterward. And so, that’s the foundation of our system. The environmental community is, you know, forty years into that debate. You know, in 1970, ‘69; a lot of the major environmental laws were passed. Well, during that same time up to current, we’ve been slowly strengthening environmental laws, but we’ve been slowly losing this fundamental battle with the very entities that we’re trying to regulate. Corporations and Wall Street, uh, you know, the big polluters, the big multi-national corporations of the world. And, they’ve amassed so much power that it is difficult to pass health care reform, climate change, uh, uh, gay and lesbian rights, immigration reform; without consistently hitting this corporate interest…this monied interest, these entrenched interests that are in Washington D.C. and that dominate the economy. And until we solve that, all of us, the, the movement, progressive movement, collectively are gonna to continue to run into road blocks. (End)
Corporations do a lot of good for humanity, at least for some of us.  They provide us with jobs and lively-hoods and a standard of living that the majority of the world population cannot even conceive of.  At the same time, they are slowly squeezing the life out of the environment and have increasingly disproportionate power in our legislature.  No individual can match the economic power that corporations have.  Why on earth would we give such a powerful entity say in our government?   A corporation is not even a living being. For all practicle purposes if the body of a corporation is it's physical assets, its mind is nothing more than a bank of computers.  It inherently lacks compassion, is devoid of emotion and cannot interact with us in a meaningful way.  It is indifferent to its effects on the living, even with input from the living.  What can we be thinking by giving it human rights?

Quote of the Day by Billy Meier

Quote of the Day
Truly, life is struggle, a repetitive dispute within one's own self. There are always the current events in life that try to divert our attention and thoughts by pushing themselves into the foreground. However, without fail, true reason will always break forth. It does not matter whether it is drowned out by noise, covered up, distracted, overburdened, stuffed to the brim, true reason is always present, ready to break through the mound of confusion, even though it may be only a hint of a smile. A smile that stands above all else, invincible, sublime, observing man as he degrades himself, reducing himself to dust. The self of man is the most precious pearl, the greatest treasure, which he carries within himself, hidden in his innermost part, in his self - the philosopher's stone. It is silver and gold, but is not made of these metals; it speaks directly to man - but man rarely hears it. It is the eternal light, the light of all-great-time in all the obscurity and gloom surrounding man. It wants to make man the king - but man violates it. All of man's yearning for it causes him to search frantically outside himself. Yet, it is so near - within every single human being. Source

Another Prophecy Unfolding

Now You Have a Ringside Seat to the Fulfillment of Prophecies...Unfortunately

People often say, "Why doesn't Meier predict something 'new' so we can see it happen?"
Well, in 1981 Meier published:
"Italy and France will be shaken, due to *Sansculottes, who murderously and by arson destroy every order: Paris will be destroyed from within and burnt down. The inhabitants themselves are those, who lay Paris into rubble and ashes via murder, arson and revolution, while Italy also falls due to massacres..."
Then, in 1987, he published the following, which has been on my site since 2002:
"However, the main objective of the aggressors will be to bring all of Europe under their military control, and for that purpose France will be selected to be the headquarters.
France will not only be invaded by the aggressors from the outside, but will also be conquered from within as a result of collaborative forces and other forces. This can be envisioned as being the many foreigners of a different religion living in France at that time, and specifically Islam, which will be this force working from within. Once France has fallen, a war to conquer Spain and England will take place..."
"And it will be that the fanatics of Islam will rise up against the countries of Europe and all will shake and quiver. Everything in the West will be destroyed; England will be conquered and thrown down to the lowest level of misery. And the fanatics and warriors of Islam will retain their power for a long time. However, not only Europe will be affected but ultimately all the countries and peoples of the Earth, as the great horror expands to a war that will encompass the entire world..."
Now, get some popcorn, sit back, and watch as the foolish French make absolutely sure that no prophecy goes unfulfilled...if they can helplessly help it:
Is anyone still unclear about who Meier is and why focusing on "UFOs" is a big waste of time...except for the profiteers in the "UFO community"?
And can you now understand why both they and the mainstream media vigorously suppress the Meier case and offer you the dead-end "Roswell" case and so-called "alien abductions" instead?
You want butter on that popcorn?

NOTE: So that we are perfectly clear in distinguishing between peaceful worshippers of the Islamic faith (Muslims) and those referred to as fanatics, please also read this article.

Quote of the Day by Billy Meier

Quote of the Day

World peace always begins in small ways. The people of Earth can never create peace if they wage war in their own house and in their own personal surroundings. They must first create peace there and within themselves and then with their friends, relatives and acquaintances, and in their daily encounters within their profession and in their spare time. Efforts towards peace must begin in small circles and then continue in an outward expansion. This requires a unification in small ways without regard to the world situation and/or insidious occurrences. Billy Meier

An Anecdote by Kevin Dunston

I read an article on AOL News about a farm where they were feeding their cattle red wine.  This was supposed to enhance the flavor of the meat somehow. I am a very strong advocate for the humane treatment of farm animals.  In the comment section after the article, I stated that this type of behavior would be like giving any animal an excessive amount of alcohol, or human being for that matter, and shouldn't be done.  Surprisingly, there are instances when a small amount of alcohol can be a beneficial and tasty treat for some animals, when given responsibly and out of love. I further commented that people's actions are often irresponsible and unnecessarily abusive to animals.  Many people justify these actions by conjuring up all sorts of erroneous and inaccurate information such as the satement that fish don't feel pain when hooked. Another reader subsequently commented on my statement saying that giving the cattle wine was probably the best thing for them, alluding that being under the influence of alcohol would make their lives more tolerable before they were slaughtered.   She further stated that fish don't have nerve endings in their heads, so hooking them doesn't hurt.  To my knowledge, in order to have voluntary muscle movement such as the opening and closing your mouth, there must be nerve tissue.  Sight, and the sense of smell, and taste also require nerve tissue.  Though smaller and less complicated species of animals have a lower sensitivity to nerve stimuli than more elaborate and advanced species, pain and fear is a common experience of all animals.  This is something even a child can discern.  I recieved the the following anecdote from Kevin Dunston yesterday which was the motivation for this post.

My father took me fishing with him when I was a kid. I remember our first fishing outing. I sat on the boat with him early on that Saturday morning and waited for a bite. While waiting I noticed a few dead fish floating near by, I said Daddy let's just get those fish they are already dead. He told me they would make us sick and about disease, decay and such. I finished my doughnut and hot cocoa. Then my dad got a bite on his line, no struggle ensued, he simply reeled it in. As he tried to take the hook out of the fishes mouth I realized the fish was both in pain and scared. I FREAKED out. Daddy let him go, you're hurting him. Please let him go! You're hurting him! My father looked at me in disbelief. He then quietly and simply took the hook out of the fishes mouth and rowed us to shore. He took me home in close to near silence, well as much silence that a 5 year old will allow any adult to experience. I sang songs, wiggled around too much in the seat, asked if we could get toys, comics and candy before we went home and tried to sound out words on billboards and signs. When I got home my Dad simply said to my Mom, guess what your son did today. I don't remember the rest I was busy eating candy, playing with new toys and reading comics. Mr. Fish was FREE! Life was good.

The Story of Stuff

Nothing will solve our worldwide problems until we get human population to more manageable levels.  I used to believe that reusing, recycling and diminishing the amount of human consumption would help us, at least, solve some of our environmental problems.  And, whereas actively recycling and reusing certainly does help, it will never completely solve our environmental problems and the problems of poverty for the majority of the world's citizens.

Much of the world's poverty is a direct result of the over consumption of goods by wealthy countries. Almost every product we purchase is in some way tied to the people of foreign countries and their resources, often at their expense.  Corporations futher contribute to world poverty through the exploitation of indigenous peoples and their resources.  You can read an exampe of this at http://thirdworldtraveler.com/south_america/bolivia_waterwayvictory.html  for more details, but it involves the Bechtel Corporation. The Bechtel Corporatoin intended to buy all the water rights of Cochambambas, Bolivia purely for profit. Unfortunately,  it took riots and death in Cochambambas to prevent this from happening.  The corporation had planned to simply raise the cost of the locals' water, most of whom were already living in poverty, by 35%,  forcing many to give up a basic human right to their own natural resource.  How is it possible that a corporation and those who run it would lack the ethics and morals to even conceive of such a thing at the expense of human well being, dignity and even death? The truth is that this hidden practice is common today.

The point of this post is to make people aware of the the effect of excessive consumption and how corporate greed negatively impacts basic human needs and rights of people world wide.  A documentary film, "The Story of Stuff" explains the life cycle of products from conception, to consumption, to the land fill and how this process impacts the world.  You can view this twenty-one minute video at http://www.youtube.com/storyofstuffproject#p/u/3/9GorgroigqM

Islamization of Paris a warning to the west (Predicted by Billy Meier in 1987)

The following article revels events that recently took place in Paris.  Apparently, Islmamic forces are attempting to undermine French authority.  This was predicted by Billy Meier in 1981 and 1987. The article, published on September 5th of this year, follows:

'Islamization' of Paris a Warning to the West

PARIS - Friday in Paris. A hidden camera shows streets blocked by huge crowds of Muslim worshippers and enforced by a private security force.
This is all illegal in France: the public worship, the blocked streets, and the private security. But the police have been ordered not to intervene.
It shows that even though some in the French government want to get tough with Muslims and ban the burqa, other parts of the French government continue to give Islam a privileged status.
An ordinary French citizen who has been watching the Islamization of Paris decided that the world needed to see what was happening to his city. He used a hidden camera to start posting videos on YouTube. His life has been threatened and so he uses the alias of "Maxime Lepante. "
Lepante's View
His camera shows that Muslims "are blocking the streets with barriers. They are praying on the ground. And the inhabitants of this district cannot leave their homes, nor go into their homes during those prayers."
"The Muslims taking over those streets do not have any authorization. They do not go to the police headquarters, so it's completely illegal," he says.
The Muslims in the street have been granted unofficial rights that no Christian group is likely to get under France's Laicite', or secularism law.
"It says people have the right to share any belief they want, any religion," Lepante explained. "But they have to practice at home or in the mosque, synagogues, churches and so on."
Some say Muslims must pray in the street because they need a larger mosque. But Lepante has observed cars coming from other parts of Paris, and he believes it is a weekly display of growing Muslim power.
"They are coming there to show that they can take over some French streets to show that they can conquer a part of the French territory," he said.
France's Islamic Future?
If France faces an Islamic future, a Russian author has already written about it. The novel is called "The Mosque of Notre Dame, 2048," a bestseller in Russia, not in France.
French publisher Jean Robin said the French media ignored the book because it was politically incorrect.
"Islam is seen as the religion of the poor people, so you can't say to the poor people, 'You're wrong,' otherwise, you're a fascist," Robin explained.
The book lays out a dark future when France has become a Muslim nation, and the famous cathedral has been turned into a mosque.
Whether that plot is farfetched depends on whom you ask. Muslims are said to be no more than 10 percent of the French population, although no one knows for sure because French law prohibits population counts by religion.
But the Muslim birthrate is significantly higher than for the native French. Some Muslim men practice polygamy, with each extra wife having children and collecting a welfare check.
"The problem of Islam is more than a problem of numbers," said French philosopher Radu Stoenescu, an Islamic expert who debates Muslim leaders on French TV. "The problem is one of principles. It's an open question. Is Islam an ideology or just a creed?"
"It doesn't matter how many there are," he aded. "The problem is the people who follow Islam; they're somehow in a political party, which has a political agenda, which means basically implementing Sharia and building an Islamic state."
In Denial or Fed Up
From the 1980s until recently, criticizing or opposing Islam was considered a social taboo, and so the government and media effectively helped Islam spread throughout France.
"We were expecting Islam to adapt to France and it is France adapting to Islam," Robin said.
About the burqa controversy, one French Muslim man told a reporter that Europeans should respect Muslim dress. One Parisian woman wearing a headscarf said "the veil is in the Koran" and "we only submit to God and nobody else."
But even if many government elites are in France are in denial over Islam, the people in the streets increasingly are not. Some have become fed up with what they see as the growing Islamization of France.
They've started staging pork and wine "aperitifs," or cocktail parties in the street. They're patriotic demonstrations meant to strike back against Islam.  Another national demonstration is planned for Saturday, Sept. 4.
A Warning to the West
The French parliament is expected to debate the burqa law in September. Jean-Francois Cope, president of the Union for a Popular Movement political party, has a warning for the West and for America.
"We cannot accept the development of such practice because it's not compatible with the life in a modern society, you see," he said. "And this question is not only a French question. You will all have to face this challenge. "

The Real UFO Coverup

After becoming aware of the Billy Meier material, the question of why there is so little coverage of this UFO case became apparent to me.  The shear volume of information and evidence available for scrutiny is overwhelming. There is the impeccably accurate, prophetic information by Billy which dates back as far as sixty years ago.  The events foretold by Billy have been of monumental importance and worldwide concern.   The scientic information published by Meier preceeded discovery by  terrestrial scientists by years and sometimes decades.  The information provided by Billie Meier contains material which is crucial to all life on this planet. Why then, would anyone who is aware of this material, especially UFOlogists, not study and promote it to the best of their ability?  Michael Horn addresses this issue in an open letter to the UFO community.  You can read his letter by clicking the link. http://www.theyfly.com/

Opinion: Reasons for climate change skepticism

Though it is obvious to many of us that global warming is upon us and that it is being escalated by human activity, there still remain those among us who continue to deny this fact. Despite the millions of recent weather refugees, ecological devastation, and weather anomalies which are now becoming the norm, these detractors continue to spew their rhetoric insisting that everything is just fine. Some of these individuals are highly respected and very influential. It must be assumed that they are reasonably intelligent. They claim to represent the views of a majority of Americans. Given the undeniable facts and assuming reasonable intelligence among these individuals, how is it that they can come to a completely different conclusion than those of us who acknowledge that yes, indeed, global warming is occurring? For someone to categorically deny what is obvious to others in this case there must be something at stake of very high value for them. And in fact there is. They risk losing much both idealistically and monetarily. To acknowledge that there is climate change and that human activity is contributing significantly to it, the way we live on this planet would have to change dramatically, Excessive production and use of our natural resources and the over consumption of such would have to cease. This would undermine the entire current economic system. Those in power and of influence could potentially lose their way of life. Furthermore, the ideals of the past concerning the definition of success, status and who should be in control would be significantly altered. Values would have to shift. We could no longer practice the selfish, predatory sort of capitalism we practice today. We would have to live more consciously. We would have to consider the effects of our actions on a global scale. We would have to take responsibility for living and consuming recklessly in the past. Our lifestyles would become more modest and introspective instead of extravagant and outwardly motivated. There is a great deal to be lost by the selfish few who exploit and control our planet, by wielding their influence. And those who possess the greatest amount of power and influence may very well fight until the bitter end to maintain the status quo. The problem is that they are fighting a losing battle. There is no choice in this matter.

Quote of the Day by Billy Meier

The following quote was taken from Future of Mankind.

Very many human beings are not themselves because they adopt as their own the thoughts, feelings and machinations of others, whereby they degenerate to anger, joylessness, hate, sorrow and worries, etc. Generally, the human being does not understand that when he is raked over by others with bad words and actions, absorbs these in himself and makes them his own, he is not himself anymore, but he becomes an imitation of one who causes him harm or damage in any form. Truly, distance must be taken from this imitation because, fundamentally, the thoughts, feelings and machinations of harming, ill, and damaging intent are not the concern of those human beings who are subjected to the aggression, but they are alone the concern of malevolent people, antagonists and self-proclaimed enemies, etc. And since everything is a concern of antagonists, a matter needing urgency is that thoughts, feelings, words and machinations, etc., created by antagonists are not absorbed and made one's concern, as the opposite unfortunately is the case for many, in which the human being is not himself anymore, but he turns into the imitation of one who provokes unrest, strife, hate and slander, etc. But to not let these unworthy things get to himself and in order for him to not dwell on anger, sorrow, worries and hate, there is only one possibility for the attacked human being, which consists in that his own thoughts and feelings are directed on not taking seriously the aggression of antagonists and always being clear to himself and saying to himself, the thoughts and feelings of hate, the hostility, the ill words and the slander and machinations are alone the concern of antagonists but not his own. Thus, it means: All attacks and problems of any kind of hostile-minded people are not my concern but solely and alone theirs, with which they damage themselves, with which they themselves must cope.

Pine Tree by Kevin Dunston

The following was written by Kevin Dunston. It's a beautiful and elegant way of personalizing one of our most troubling issues. I was nearly overcome with emotion when I read it. Thank you Kevin.
I came outside and sat on the patio yesterday after work. As soon as I sat down, I felt exposed and like something was missing all at the same time. After a few minutes pondering, I noticed a fine film of sawdust on the glass patio tabletop. I realized that the majestic pine tree that stood at end of the little hill in front of me had been chopped down. Humming birds used to dance around her in the early morning and at dusk. Geckos used to run up and down her trunk. It’s like I lost a new and elderly friend. Not sure why it had to be cut… I’m positive it was here before these condos were. Maybe root and pavement conflict? Or the possibility that it may crash into homes? It’s hard for me to fathom or think like a land baron.

Quote from a Michael Nickerson Lecture on Overconsumption

I'm currently doing volunteer work transcribing lectures for a non-profit organization called Growth Busters.  The aim of the organization is to educate and inform the public about the current human overpopulation issue. It goes without saying that when a population exists, no matter the life form, the resources required to maintain that population will eventually be depleted if that population maintains uncontrolled and unlimited growth.  This issue in the wild, normally, takes a natural course in achieving a level of balance between the level of available resources and the population numbers that can be maintained. In order to maintain a viable relationship between available resources and any life form, population growth must be limited by the amount of available resources.  A population cannot exceed the capacity of the environment to provide for it without eventual dire results.  Many humans are living in an environment that is either at or beyond the threshold of sustainability.  We are facing these limits with many of our most basic resources from fresh water and food to petroleum.  All of our natural resources are obviously in limited quantities. And we are compounding this crises, mainly in western cultures, with excessive and ever increasing consumption of these resources. This will all inevitably lead to dire conditions for humanity and all living things on Earth. Our human population has grown beyond the capacity of Earth to sustainably provide for all our needs, let alone, our wants. Yet, we continue to consume and reproduce beyond the Earth's means.

The following excerpt is a word for word transcription of one of Nickerson's lectures. It addresses part of the cause of our seeming need for consumption.  It explains how we evolved into a culture and economy based on excessive use of our resources.
And I’ve got a, a wonderful, wonderful statement here, well, you know, its a, it’s a well said statement by a fellow named Lebeau, who uh, was a retail analyst in the nineteen fifties. Just to give you an idea of how well we did at this, this process. He said that in our enormously productive economy…that our enormously productive economy demands that we make consumption our way of life. That we can buy, could, (sighs) …that we convert the buying and use of goods into rituals. That we seek our spiritual satisfaction, our ego satisfaction in consumption. We need things consumed, burned up, worn out, replaced , and discarded at an ever increasing rate. Have we ever done a good job, hey? (chuckles) That was in the nineteen fifties. He was writing for the “New (stumbles) York“, “New York Journal of Retailing”. And we have pursued the brave new world of consumerism to the point where we’re now overwhelming the planet. We’re actually capable of changing the entire structure of how, how, the, uh, the climate and the, the natural resource uh, process on the planet operates.

To say the least, beside the need to reduce human population growth and in the long term to reduce our overall numbers to a manageable level, we also must address the issue of overconsumtion.  Without, worldwide collaboration in these efforts we are headed toward a future with critical shortages of all basic necessities. Not to mention the impact that climate change, exacerbated by human activity, will have.  The unnecessary suffering would be immeasurable. Whether we make these efforts willingly or unwillingly, our numbers as human beings will eventually be reduced.  A willful effort, of course, will bring fewer negative consequences than an unwilling effort.

Quote of the Day by Billy Meier

Source: http://www.futureofmankind.co.uk/billy_meier/main_page/

"Islamistic terrorists do not represent Islam" by Billy Meier.

The following was taken from a translation posted September 7, 2010 at http://www.futureofmankind.co.uk

Islamistic terrorists do not represent Islam, just as terrorists of other faiths do not represent the other religions.
As a human being, born Eduard Albert Meier, named “Billy”, BEAM, and Sheik Muhammed Abdullah and so forth, I had certainly, already from childhood, gained a good insight into Christianity as well as into Islam and into the other religions as well as into many of their sects, whereby I have, however, assumed and maintained a completely neutral position, over my entire life, for myself and my thoughts, feelings and views, as well as opinions.
Fundamentally, according to Islam, I am a religious non-believer and, from the perspective of Christianity, a heretic and atheist, or, from a different and sectarian perspective, one who is lost and a candidate for Hell and so forth, because I distance myself from all religious and sectarian belief.
As a result, I have not succumbed to the God delusion, which is hammered, in an indoctrinating manner, into the believers, through the false teachings of religions and all their sects.
For these abovementioned reasons I am also able, in a neutral way, to correctly judge things which are actually, or seemingly, associated with belief, religion and sectarianism.
This is the case, for example, in regard to Islamistic terrorism, whereby this Islamism has no relationship whatsoever with actual Islam. It is based, instead, on a wrongly steered and completely degenerated fanaticism.
Unfortunately, it is the case that, wherever terrorist acts occur, these are immediately associated with Islam, as they also are with other religions, however, and indeed, depending on which religion the terrorists belong to in each instance.
In the present time it is primarily Islam which is the target of abusive insults from people.
This is exactly what occurs when terrorist acts are committed by fanatical Islamists.
Terrorist Islamists have, however, nothing to do with Islam in the way that they represent it, because truly they are degenerated religious fanatics, who interpret the Qur'an and Islam which results from it, according to their own criminal judgement, in their own fanatical favour, in order to be able to spread boundless murder, killing death and destruction.
As a result of this wrongdoing by the fanatical Islamistic terrorists, who have succumbed to delusion, their crimes are only too quickly and too willingly brought into association with Islam.
On one hand, however, this has nothing at all to do with it, and on the other hand, the fanatical, Islamistic terrorists are not genuine Muslims, but are rather only shabby creatures who quite intentionally use Islam as a pretext for their degenerations of their murderous and criminal behaviour.
In this way Islam, again and again, gets into the headlines of the public media as a result of new terrorist atrocities and crimes, which naturally is also the case with all other religions when terrorist degenerations and crimes are committed in their name.
At present, however, it is Islam which, because of the fanatical Islamistic believers and through one who succumbed to degenerated religious delusion, is misused and is made the horror of the world.
And this is not only within the ranks of the Christians and Hindus, the Jews, Buddhists and those of other faiths, but it is also within the ranks of Muslims.
Fundamentally, all fanatical actions, actions which are driven by delusional belief, and other terrorist actions, are profoundly low and should be most sharply condemned, and indeed it makes no difference whether they are determined by degenerated fanatical Islamism or if they lead back to fanatical degenerations of those imprisoned by other religious faiths.
However, in the current time it is the Islamistic terrorists, who are not representatives of Islam and are not faithful Muslims, who toss the entirety of Islam, and, with it, well over a billion Muslims, into the abyss of hatred from Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and from many of other faiths.
Neither the ringleaders of the Islamistic terrorists, nor those who sign up with them and learn terror, nor those who have already been trained as Islamistic terrorists, can claim that they are representatives of Islam.
Truly, they are serious criminals and can in no way be called Muslims, because, in their fanaticism, they are degenerates and miserable creatures and ill-disposed ones who murder and destroy out of cowardice, and bring the genuine Islamic believers into disrepute all over the world and set the whole world hatefully against them.
Islam, now just 1,431 years old, has basically come forth from the old teaching of the real prophets, therefore, also from the teaching as was brought by Jmmanuel, who is also quoted in the Qur'an as a prophet.
Terroristic Islamism has, however, not come from this teaching from the old prophets and thereby also not from the religious book, the Qur'an. Instead it has come from a hate-bound delusion of those who incite terror against all those who do not follow, implement and fully live the verses of the Surah of the Koran conservatively, fundamentally and fanatically in a completely wrong and erroneous manner.
This does not mean in the actual Islamic way, but rather according to the erroneous and dim-witted Islamism, which truly has nothing to do with Islam and the teachings of the Qur'an, because Islamism follows terroristic-pathologically insane and fanatical false teachings which find no likeness at all in either the Islamic religious book nor in other teaching texts which result from it.
Islamistic terrorism is an unparalleled degeneration existing outside the teachings of the Qur'an and of Islam. Consequently, it may not be taken as a measure for judging the image of Islam and of the faithful Muslims.
But if that is done, then that corresponds to a mistake, which only generates evil and hate, whereby the wheel of hate turns ever further and all terror actions occurring all over the world are automatically and directly associated with Islam and with Muslims in general.
And that also happens when terrorist actions are caused in a different way and are carried out by Christians, Hindus or Jews, and so forth.
Therefore, just in this regard alone, a differentiation must already be made and it must be clear that religious and sectarian terrorism has nothing to do with the actual religion, but rather is based on degenerations which come forth from pathologically insane, exaggerated, conservative, fundamentalist and fanatical, as well as delusional, imaginations.
Therefore it is necessary to recognise terrorism in the actuality of its origins because only in this way can it be effectively tackled in order to put an end to it.
But precisely that is not done because basically Islam and Muslims are immediately made generally responsible when some kind of terror actions occur somewhere.
Truly, however, terror is not the product of Islam or another religion, rather it is the evil and criminal fruit of hate-filled and fanatical humans, who, without consideration and conscience, also make others, who are misled by them, instrumental for their terroristic purposes.
Terror actions, which prove to have a form defined by Islamism, have a quite especially and extremely unpleasant - as well as malicious - effect worldwide on co-existence among Christians, Jews and Muslims, and promote hate against the Islamic believers, and, indeed, although they detest and reject terrorism.
They want to live in peace, freedom, harmony and love, as do all other rational human beings of all peoples and religions. Consequently, for them, terror actions are completely senseless, inappropriate and criminal as well as despising of human beings and life.
In contrast to that, those of other faiths - primarily an enormous number of Christians and Jews - believe their completely wrong, imagined and often delusion-imprinted opinions to be confirmed in regard to Islam and Muslims as a result of the criminal, Islamistic, terror actions.
And then, even when criminal terror actions are carried out by Christians or Jews, and so forth, the entire thing is thoughtlessly and hatefully attributed, unjustifiably, to Muslims and Islam.
In this regard, absolutely no distinction is made, but rather everything is simply mopped up with the same hate-drenched, filthy rag, and is thrown into the same pot of hate.
Wrong information and misunderstanding in regard to Islam and its believers cloud the senses of reason and understanding of primarily the Christians and Jews and all their manifold sects........
In no way do terror, murder, torture, death and destruction belong to that, nor can they be found in the Qur'an or in some other Islamic religious texts.

Opinion: Reverend Terry Jones and his intention to burn Qurans

At the onset, I must proclaim my support of the human right to religious freedom. I have no religious affiliation but respect the rights of those who do.  It is not my intent to degrade or belittle any religion.

The following was taken from AOL news on September 7, 2010 concerning  Reverend Terry Jones intention to burn Qurans: http://www.aolnews.com/nation/article/preacher-terry-jones-prays-about-his-decision-to-burn-quran/...
"We realize that this action will indeed offend people, offend the Muslims," he told CNN   today. But, he said, "we cannot back off the truth of the dangers of radical Islam just because people are going to be offended." Speaking in front of a sign that read, "International Burn a Koran Day," the pastor told CNN, "We are definitely praying about it." But he stopped short of vowing to go through with the plan.
George Bush used the same genre of  logic to justify the war in Iraq.  This is the same kind of thinking that is practiced by Al-Queda. It is a self serving form of religious radicalism. Reverend Jones is using religion and a soft form of violence to incite hate and promote strife intead of peace and unity. Historically as a result of this kind of thinking, the whole of mankind has suffered at the hands of a few. How much longer will we ask of ourselves whether we have evolved beyond the barbarism our the past?  Religions have come and gone, but the basis of our evil has not changed for millennia. We are still ignorant of the facts of  Creation, Creation being all that is. It is not our technological prowess or religious understanding which determines our level of evolution.  Creation was here long before either.  It is our understanding and application of the laws of Creation which do so and without which we will continue on a spiralling path to destruction.

"Hidden in plain sight" by Michael Horn-Authorized American Media Representative

I have only been following the Billy Meier UFO case for a few years. Michael Horn, the only authorized American media representative for Billy Meier, has been researching this case for over thirty one years. The following text was written by Michael Horn. This text was taken from: http://tazzandpaulashow.com/turning-point-hidden-in-plain-sight/

The Billy Meier Case: Hidden in Plain Sight . . .

For over 31 years I have been researching the Billy Meier UFO case, still ongoing in Switzerland for over 68 years. And all that has occurred during this time has only reinforced the conclusions I first drew, i.e. that the case is absolutely genuine. Far more important than Meier’s stunningly clear, still irreproducible UFO photos, films, sound recordings, etc., is the huge body of impeccably accurate scientific, environmental and world event related information - over 26,000 pages - that Meier has also published. More and more of that information, which also includes the remarkably clear, profound and belief-free spiritual teaching, is now being made available, as it is translated into English by some very dedicated people.

If one reviews some of the corroborative scientific information for themselves, the inescapable conclusion is that we have something of extraordinary importance to humanity that is openly “hidden in plain sight”, as the phrase goes. And along with the amazement comes a certain sense of sadness, even dread, when we realize that so much of what Meier and his extraterrestrial friends have been warning us about, for almost 60 years, is now upon us.

Indeed, they have tried to assist us, while abiding by a policy of non-interference and non-violation of our free will. Certainly many would have welcomed such assistance in even more blatant and irrefutable terms considering the perils, largely of humanity’s own making, that we now face. But one of the core teachings in the Meier material is complete self-responsibility for all of one’s thoughts, feelings and actions, which is the only way that positive, lasting change can ever be accomplished. Unfortunately, humanity has largely been taught and encouraged - for millennia - to look outside of itself for answers to life’s difficult questions, and for solutions to our own self-created problems.

Now, however, we will have the “opportunity” to practice this essential teaching, as there is no one coming to save us from ourselves, or from the problems we have created. This should actually be regarded as good news, even though it may not sound or feel like it. For this marks the turning point in what will be a long process of making the necessary course corrections that will lay the foundation for a better time yet to come. And hopefully those who will inherit the world from us will have something firm upon which to build a truly better world anchored in truth, love, freedom, peace, justice and harmony.

UFO Proof

There are those among us who are quite skeptical. Others are quite gullible. The possibility that there exists life beyond our planet is undeniable. The sheer vastness of the universe lends itself to this possibility. Water has been discovered on Mars.  Scientist are searching and developing new technology to enhance the search. Many of us already believe in the possibility of life outside our atmosphere. Unfortunately, the claims of  99%of these ufologists fall short and have no verifiable evidence to support their beliefs. There is however, one UFO case that has been ongoing for over sixty years, the Billy Meier case. Billy has been able to produce undeniable evidence to support the fact that he is in contact with an extraterrestrial race of human beings. He has produced photographic, and physical evidence as well as audio and video recordings. Many skeptics have attempted to dispute the authenticity of his evidence, but all have failed.

Billy Meier foretold of the environmental events now occurring on Earth decades ago and has reported scientific facts decades before our scientists discovered them. Billy foretold of the Internet, AIDS, cell phones and the crystal methanphetamine epidemic in the 1950's.

But of greater importance, is the message and spiritual teachings these extraterrestrials, the Plejaren, have given us. They are not here to take over the planet. Despite wild claims of what an extraterrestrial race might look like, these human extraterrestrials look almost exactly like as we do. What they bring us is of utmost importance to our future survival.

Quote of the Day by Billy Meier

The human seeks; but for what does he seek? He seeks for the truth, for the true life and the meaning of life. However, he does it in an impetuous rush as well as in carelessness and is always eager, in each and every thing that he comes across, to indulge in a belief, be this political, religious, sectarian, philosophical or ideological in other ways. At the same time, the human does not concern himself with reality, the truth and true love, humaneness and all what pertains to the true life. The human's seeking is also like an enormous boom throughout the world even though the human does not know what he actually seeks as the true life and as the meaning of life and also can imagine nothing by that. And it is exactly this that leads to the appearance of countless false prophets, gurus, masters, enlightened ones and lofty ones as well as book authors and those who offer seminars, and with their horrendous nonsense, with their false teachings and deceitfulness, they have an easy job of binding their believers to themselves in order to financially exploit them, to abuse them and to make them dependent. An article cited on GrowthBusters.com: "Ten ways to solve the jobs problem"

Until we get the human overpopulation issue under control the least we can do is reuse, conserve, and recycle. There is absolutely nothing that will completely solve our global problems until population growth is decreased and we reach a sustainable number of humans on the planet. Decreasing the human population on this planet is not a matter of choice. It will come about whether we are willing or not. However, until that time in order to decrease the destruction we are causing on the planet and make smarter use of what little resources we have left, here are some ideas that are beneficial to humans and the planet and create jobs at the same time:  http://www.yesmagazine.org/issues/a-resilient-community/10-ways-to-solve-the-jobs-problem

The controversy about Obama's religion

There is ample controversy surrounding Obama's religion of choice. I have voted in presidential elections for three decades. I have never considered religious affiliation as a factor in my decision making.  What I have observed is that the people who are so unduly concerned about Obama's religious affiliation are not even practicing the tenets of their own religions. The most popular religions of the world all teach tolerance, love, peace, service, caring, harmony, respect, honor, thrift, charity, honesty and numerous other virtues . The views and opinions of Obama's religious scrutinizers often represent the exact opposite of these virtues and are slanderous, mean spirited, hateful, racist, divisive, disrespectful, dishonest, and attempt to incite fear. One person commented that Obama cannot be of the one right religion as he is not white. Most of all, these views are predominantly self serving and therefore not in the best interest of America.  I dare say that a fringe of these detractors are behaving in a manner consistent with terrorism by promoting fear, the largest component of terrorism.

I have no religious affiliation, but I vehemently support an individual's right to practice the religion of his or her choice. The words of the constitution of the United States guaranty this freedom.  Whether a person chooses to adopt Christianity, Buddhism, Islam or Hinduism is of no other person's concern.

Some people believe that by virtue of his name Obama is tied to Islam and the middle east. Others claim that  his Muslim heritage automatically ties him to Islam and terrorism. Obama has stated on numerous occasions that he is a mainstream Christian. No other president I know of has been questioned so vigorously about his religious affiliation. No matter his religious practice, it is ridiculous and delusional to even conceive that a person would be allowed to run for the office of the President of the United States while having any remote ties to terrorist activities.

The terrorists of this world, some of whom are Muslim, represent an extreme fringe of individuals who do not practice the tenets of the religion they profess.  They claim ties to religion, but in fact what they are doing is simply using religion;  twisting  its premise to meet their personal sadistic needs. The vast majority of people who truly practice their chosen religion are avid about adhering to the tenets of their religion. I cannot name a single religion that actively promotes terrorism.

All religions have had terrorist fringe elements. Some early Americans used religions as an excuse to slaughter millions of American Indians. There have been countless terrorist actions tied to different religions throughout history. People claim that terrorist actions are no longer practiced in  Christianity and are endemic only to other religions. I beg to differ. George W. Bush claims to be a reformed Christian yet he started a war that has killed, maimed and tortured hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children. He did as God told him, to paraphrase his words. I don't believe that any God would incite such an abomination, especially given the fact that the Iraq war is an undeniable mistake and failure. George Bush  acted on a delusional belief based on his ego and in his personal self interest. An act such as this committed by a Muslim under the same pretense would automatically be considered terrorism.

I am not condemning anyone's choices concerning religion. My point is that no matter what, where, when or who, there have been and always will be those who use religion to justify their self serving, sadistic and delusional beliefs, and actions. They incite fear and might through violent language and action to achieve their misguided personal goals. By definition this is terrorism. Regardless of his religious beliefs, Obama is the first president to actively reach out and promote peace.

Bandaid or Cure?

I am an advocate of doing what I can on a personal level to preserve our planet for the sake of all of its inhabitants. I recycle every possible thing that I can. If I can buy something used instead of new I buy it used, and I only buy what I need.  In fact nearly all of my possessions used to belong to someone else.  Most of them were given to me.  I have never bought furniture in my near half century of existance.  I take the bus instead of driving when I can.  In my college years, my thinking was the exact opposite. I had credit cards to some of the finest department stores in my area. I worked full time and lived with my Grandmother for free.  All of my money was spent on my own personal pleasure, except for school expenses. Once I graduated and moved out on my own things changed. I could no longer afford to shop. In fact I could no longer afford to pay my credit card bills. I struggled for years. But, I became used to living within my means.  In fact I began to see the benefit of conservation and living in moderation. I recognized the downside of reckless consumption and spending.  In the last ten years, I have became even more conscious of the effects of  our consumption as humans.  As a species our consumption is overwhelming the limited resources of Earth. The more we consume, the more damage we cause to the planet and in turn risk our own future survival. Millions of people, animals and nearly all ecosystems are enduring horrendous suffering often for the shopping pleasures and extravagance of a relative few. However, as the population grows the proportionate number of people able to enjoy shopping bliss decreases.  Current trends indicate that once population levels exceed certain limits then the ecomomic models no longer work leading systemic to financial problems. Financial misconduct only exaperates these problems  There is no easy fix for the current economic conditions.  Even worse, there is currently no way to repair nor replenish the environment so that it can meet the needs of the already excessive human population. We've had a pretty easy ride on this planet for a long time and have incurred a large ecological debt as a result. Even if each of us conserves, reuses, and recycles, it's only a bandaid and certainly not a cure for the ills inflicted upon the planet due to overpopulation.  The cure is to decrease human population to more manageable levels over time. It will even be necessary to completely halt population growth at regular intervals in order to avert an otherwise inevitable disaster.  We can either take heed now or each pay a very high price later.  Some of the price is/will be(ing) paid in our lifetime.  You can find more information at the following sites: http://www.growthbusters.org/ or  http://www.theyfly.com/ or http://www.futureofmankind.co.uk/
